Belgrade, Oct 20 — Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for ensuring Serbia’s natural gas supplies for the upcoming winter during a recent phone call. The discussion marks the first conversation between the two leaders in over two years and came as Serbia prepares for colder months.

The phone call, which commemorated the 80th anniversary of Belgrade’s liberation from fascism, focused on securing natural gas supplies and other bilateral issues. Serbia and Russia have a three-year gas supply agreement, which will expire in March 2025. Vucic emphasized the importance of Russian support in maintaining energy security, particularly during winter.

“I especially thanked him for helping secure sufficient natural gas quantities from Russia to Serbia this winter,” Vucic stated in a video on Instagram, calling the conversation “long, good, open, and meaningful.”
